2024 Summer Regional

The Region 3 Summer Meeting will take place on June 28-30, 2024, hosted by the Northern Virginia Daylily Society (NVDS) The headquarters hotel will be the Holiday Inn Alexandria – Carlyle located at 2460 Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria, VA with a room rate of $169 plus tax that includes free parking. The hotel is right off the I-495 Beltway and near the Woodrow Wilson Bridge connecting Virginia and Maryland. The Eisenhower Avenue Metro Station is a short walk from the hotel if you want to do some sightseeing in Old Town Alexandria or Washington, DC. The hotel is also pet friendly (for a fee). Information on how to make hotel reservations is on the registration form.

There are five gardens to tour at your own pace, and you will be free to visit them on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. This will be a drive yourself tour. With three gardens in Maryland and two in Virginia, the headquarters hotel is conveniently located for you to travel in either direction. On Saturday, there will be a business meeting, banquet and auction at the hotel in the late afternoon and evening. A list of other gardens not in the immediate area but possibly on your travel route is under development - let us know if you want to be listed. A Garden Judges Workshop 2 will be held at Faith Bange’s garden on Saturday, June 29 and will be taught by Jim Murphy.

In Maryland, you will be able to visit the new garden of Curtis Cerillo and Chris von Kohn, and the gardens of Faith Bange and Ellen Brous. In Virginia, visit Meadowlark Botanical Gardens, where NVDS helps maintain the extensive daylily beds, including a Stout Medal winners’ bed, a Region 3 hybridizers' bed and free admission for convention attendees. Also on tour will be the Janice Kennedy garden with many Pat Cochenour introductions as well as her own.
